SEVIS: the U.S. web based system to maintain international student and scholar information

SAVVY [ˈsævi]: “well informed about or proficient in the use of” something

Bridge the opportunity gap which can stem from the lack of information

Today we are living in the most uncertain times in the history. Within less than a year, the way we shop, the way we eat, the way we work and the way we learn has been changed. Especially, from on campus housing policies, teaching methods, flight schedules to visa regulations updates, almost everything related to international students and exchange visitors have changed. In this sense, it cannot be emphasized enough on the importance of knowing “what is out there.”

Our vision of bridging the opportunity gap which can stem from the lack of information to empower international students and exchange visitors brought SEVIS SEVVY team together to provide latest U.S. higher education news and visa/ non-immigration regulations updates in three languages- Chinese, English and Korean. Three languages were selected based on the number of students who come to the U.S. but SEVIS SAVVY team acknowledges how diverse the group of international students and exchange visitor groups is.
