The student took a leave of absence for a year and received a new I-20 and paid the SEVIS fee again.

The visa was valid until November 2024, but the SEVIS ID on the F-1 visa was different from the newly issued I-20. This made the student concerned and the student reached out to confirm if the student can enter the U.S. with an old visa but a new I-20.

Based on the advice and the article on sevissavvy.com the student successfully entered the U.S. for Fall 2021 even with an old visa but a new I-20.
